• You Bring Me Down

    You bring me down
    -my negative muse,
    when really, optimism flows
    through my veins like poetry,
    soft-spoken and well-worded
    all around me,

how can I not be inspired
    on a day like this,
sunshine, under a pristine blue sky,
my own croak – from inhaled smoke,
    as the cicadas mirror me,
    as I breathe,
    my throat dry
    with the wind, alike,
I float, flat on my back,
    back up to the sky,
    the leaves wink
through the canopy of sunshine’s glint,
    and I am inspired
    by the poetry
    that is around me,
and yet, you bring me down,

What I found inspiring was its negative indictment and the author's determination to be inspired inspite of his anti-mood. Marvelous.
