    Double Identity Crisis

    Digging deep, under the surface.
So far down there's no light or sound.
    Looking for an answer,
a clue to my true being.

I stumble upon a vein, of loss and despair.
I scope its trail, wondering where it leads.
    Questioning its existence,
its clue to my true person.

The core, blackness spaced by diamonds.
Mesmerized by beauty, eaten by darkness.
I know there's no way out,
an enigma of my true life.

The deep; eerily resembles the surface,
a repeated contradiction of void and beauty.
    An elegant moment of light,
what could be my true soul.

Quickly swallowed by the darkness all around,
evil reminding all that there are two souls.
    A humbling sign of hatred,
showing that truth lies in reality.

Deep inside every life giving force,
lies two identities in constant conflict.
One paves the way for freedom,
while the other offers sanity and rest.

I really liked this, ecpecially the bit about the darkness and infinite void being beautiful, just think that's a very nice image in my head. This connects with me too, at least in the way I view human nature, that everyone has two sides to them. This one seems like you're describing one side as being the safe side, the one to seek out when wounded emotionally or mentally, while the other may offer freedom, but freedom is also dangerous because it's opening you up to a world that could easily destroy you with the flick of its little finger. Good Job.
